Abstract

These files document Governor William Owsley's use of the governor's power and privilege to grant appointments for civil officials. Included are letters to Governor Owsley recommending individuals for appointment as civil officials. The offices include sheriff and justice of the peace. Also included are resignations from the same positions as well as state legislative posts.
